Default 04 xc90 problems!!

Hey guys,

Ive owned my 04 t5 for about 4 months now. Ive discovered some problems with it. First, at idle the vehicle does not move, usually a idling vehicle creeps forward rite?. Second, when starting it sometimes it will either take a few extra seconds or it will start then stall riteaway. Third, there`s a grinding sound coming from the dash when switching the temperature.

This is my first volvo, other thanthese problemsits been an excellent vehicle. Any help would be great guys thanks alot.

The grinding noise, when changine temps, is referred to as the barking dog noise, It can usally be fixed by a CCM software upgrade at your local dealer, It is nothing to worry about tho.

As for the car not moving at idle. IS the vehicle point uphill a tad? XC90s wont move when the brake is released if on a slight uphill grade. I wouldnt worry about it.

As for starting/ stalling. Could be an issue with the immoblilizer, it reads the key to allow the car to start, in a nutshell...

It will have codes in it, ask the dealer to check for DTCS before doing the CCM upgrade..

No it`s not on any kind of hill, just on a flat road it wont move. It could just be a volvo thing or xc90 thing i dunno. Im not gonna bother then with the temp thing, theres not a dealership anywhere close to me. So the stalling issue, so you think maby it could be a dirty fuel filter, dirty injector, or somethingI can fix myself?.

thanx for the help bud.

As for the car not moving in D at idle, what I've noticed is that at idle, when the car is on an incline (doesn't need to be that steep), the car will roll freely (downhill) in Drive mode, as if in Neutral. This was very disturbing to me at firstI brought it back to the dealer twice, told this is normal.
I had a loaner Volvo sedan, and it did the same thing.
Feels like i'm driving a Manual trannywhen car is on a hill, I must depress the brake, and gas at the same time to take off, otherwise, I'll roll backards
