Default 07 XC90 AWD 3.2 steering wheel locked up

Long story short, my mom blew out the R front tire and we had it towed to the shop to get it replaced. After it was repaired, they pulled it into a spot and the steering wheel locked up. It starts up fine and shifts all gears with no issues. The steering wheel itself is completely locked up, no play whatsoever. They tried replacing the battery and lock cylinder, why I don't know because the car starts and shifts no problem. I'd be messing with it myself since I've been in the field 18 years but my back has me out of service. I've honestly never run into this problem before. Any suggestions?

try searching for threads on the steering column lock itself. Here's one...

I read that one a while back. I'm not getting any error messages at all though which most seem to be. I'll look into checking the SCL itself and see if that may be the issue. May be able to check it out before shift tomorrow. I'll update.

07 xc90 has a mechanical steering column lock. Turn the key and a steel bar moves out of a slot in the steering column. Like a deadbolt on your home door. The link above refers to cars that have an electronic SCL.

The lock cylinder is part of the steering column lock and can't be replaced be itself - so I'm not sure what "lock cylinder" you had replaced. I've never seen the "deadbolt" not pull out of the steering column when the key is turned - but if it does not, simply drill out the 2 security (headless) bolts holding the column lock onto the column and you can drive the car. (then order a new steering column lock from the VIN from Volvo that will fit your existing keys, or modify your old one to never lock the column again) With the "deadbolt" in the column - there is a few degrees of play - so if you say "no play whatsoever" it's not your steering column lock - there's something weird going on blocking the motion of the steering column.

Yeah, there is no motion at all. I'll see if they can manage to get it back inside and see if there is any movement up in the air. I seriously hate other people working on my vehicles!
