08 3.2 Transmission Question
Hi - new owner here of an 08 3.2 AWD with an "is this normal" question about how my transmission shfts. Since new, it seems to hesitate on the 2 to 3 shift in automatic mode during moderate acceleration, say from a stop light - almost like it starts to shift (~2500 RPM), and then hangs a bit and finally shifts at ~3000 RPM. Once in 3rd, it feels like the torque converter wants to lock up but doesn't - kind of an "indecisive" feeling/sound. All other shifts seem fine - clean and crisp. It is noticable by the engine sound, almost like I let up on the gas a bit and then give it more, and a seat of the pants feel. In manual mode, all shifts are clean and direct. I thought maybe it was a software logic adaptive learning curve, but it seems to me that by the 1500 miles I now have on it, it should have sorted itself out.
I thought I would check here before I cry wolf to the dealer. Should I expect clean crisp shifts from 2 to 3? If anyone with the 3.2 could share their experience, it woould be appreciated. Love the rig, otherwise! Thanks.

We had similar things happen to our V8 with the 6-speed automatic over the last year (between 30 & 40K miles). The dealermade several software upgrade attempts and it seemed OK for a while. Should be covered under warranty.
Later we experienced and issue with the transmission jumping out of reverse when backing up and it turnedout to bean issue with theautomatic transmission control system - a defectivetransmission flow valve and gasket. It took them 2 days to obtain parts and repair. This was luckily covered underwarranty.

There has been a machineing process with the Valve bodys that has left some metal shavings in them, they arenot cleaned properly, there is a VIN break that tells if your vehicle is elligable for this replacement or not. The dealer will probably have to contact the FTS. the 3.2s take some time to break in because of the piston rings they chose to use. the car will actually start making more power after about 12k miles..
