Hello All, 2003 XC90 139K, 2.5T
Just had a very knowledgable volvo mechanic replace my flame trap box,(was blowing oil past upper crank seal, so he said) clean my oil pan which he said had oil caked onto the bottom. He stated he cleaned and inspected other pvc lines with no issues. He also changed my oil from 10w/40 to Mobil1 Synthetic.
MY ISSUE: It has been about a week with no problems, Yesterday went to get on highway with NO power. Engine would rev to 5k with no coorsponding speed increase. I got it home and inspected engine/eng oil with no issues. Might have been 1/2 qt low. When I started after lunch(truck sat 30-40 mins) LARGE plumes of white smoke from exhaust, Oil dipstick and oil add cap.
More clogged pvc lines??
Head gasket??
Synthetic oil wear out old oil seals??
HELP please wifes truck and I payed it off LAST MONTH

 

white smoke generally means you're burning coolant. with engine cold look in coolant reservoir to check for oil. look for coolant on dipstick and foam under oil cap. those would be signs of blown head gasket.
