Hello this is my first time posting and also first time servicing a Volvo. Picked up this relatively clean 130k mile example and first thing first had to do the timing service. I replaced the timing belt (continental), idler, tensioner, and water pump. Belt is tracking perfectly straight however is riding closer to the inside of the cam gears than the original. Looks OK to me but would like confirmation.
If anyone sees this I did not like how the belt was positioned. Dismantled the belt, wp, idler and tensioner. Found a slightly raised area of corrosion under the idler. Scraped that away, ensured no debris on wp mating surfaces, reassembled and the belt is now tracking in a better position. Still not as centered on the cam gears as the OG but I’ll take it.
