My 2008 XC90 (AWD 3.2L 6cyl.) has 63,000 miles on it. For the past 4 weeks any time I drive it for over 30 minutes at 60mph+ when I slow down there is a bizarre noise coming from under the hood. Basically, it sounds like I am speeding up or slowing down, but amplified. It does not make the noise if I am just driving my kids back and forth from school or just running errands around town, only when I drive distances at a higher rate of speed.

My RPMs also stay at 2000, even if I am coming down in speed (it is very noticeable when I am coming home from a trip and in start and stop traffic). Basically, it drives like it is in Winter mode, but it is not.

Has anyone else had this issue? I am going to bring it to the dealership, but thought I would get some ideas before.
