Default 2009 XC90 Idle - Rumble

Our 2009 XC90 causes a rumble and vibration when idling. The tone is like a radio bass set way too low and cranked up. Any suggestions on fixing this problem. It has existed since we bought the car new. Thanks.

Default 2009 XC90 Rumble

As a follow up to the thread, the car was taken to Volvo where it was determined that a pad (mount) was broken. It is scheduled for repair 1-18-11. Hopefully, this solves the problem.

Interested in which mount. My 07 has had idle vibration that is bothering me although no rumble. Haven't had any feedback as to what causes this. Is this the 6 or v8?

Default Response to PCarnut

I believe it is the rear mount and it is a 6 cylinder.

Default Rumble continues

The rear motor mount was changed by Volvo. This did not make an appreciable difference in the tone. I believe it is a resonance in the exhaust system. It would seem that more people would have this problem, since such a condition would be inherent in all such models.

Sorry to hear it made no difference. Thanks for the feedback. Still hard to believe it was like this from new. Guess I need to go compare on a dealer's lot.

Yes, I got the same problem as you on my 2009 xc90 3.2.

Dealer updated my software then problem was fixed. Check below tsb.

This update is too address the "booming", not vibration at idle, correct? So probably not applicable in my case I'm guessing.
