2009 XC90 Windows not working
I recently purchased a 2009 XC90. When I purchased the vehicle the DIM, NAV didnt work and the radio as well. Although it seemed to drive great (with the exception of not knowing my speed, fuel amount and temp. The ride was just as smooth. The radio then started to work and one day the screen came on. I have issues with the lights at times but nothing major. I am a DIY (try to be as much as I can) but i know my limits and this XC90 is kinda scary. I have tried the battery disconnect, the door wire and clip inspection which allowed me to roll my window up just about 1 inch and then nothing I did the wire wiggle here and there which started a series of clicking that seemed to be coming from the ECM relays located under the steering wheel and in the cargo area. Also nothing came from that. What i am trying to avoid is a costly Volvo dealership visit Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Anything helps (my attempt at sign flying here in this forum like someone at corner of intersection looking as if i really needed help) lol
Thanks
Thanks
Start with a wiring diagram, this one might work. (yes I know it's for a 2005, earlier years might be found elsewhere)

Then you will need a compatible scan tool. The free stolen/hacked VIDA 2014d (found easily on the internet) with a DICE unit or other interface will be your best choice.
The can networks on these cars - if there is a problem with a module - it will prevent others from working correctly. Common problems with modules are the DIM (instrument cluster), DEM (differential), CEM (central electric module, due to water damage), alarm module -etc..
This company (and others) can help - but usually need codes from a compatible scan tool for ideas as to what needs to be fixed. You will want to identify your problems and can eliminate some modules - there is a high speed can network and a low speed can network.
