2010 V8 XC90 oil recommendations
Hi all,
bought my first xc90 2010 v8 - 105k miles. factory towing package etc.
I do tow with the vehicle and live in upstate NY with some hilly terrain and drive 60+ miles a day. temps get in the negatives and can be in the 90s in the summer, I am looking at liqui moly products cause i have used them before and had good luck with their products on a diesel mercedes.
However sort of at a loss looking at more modern oil standards compared to the 2010 standards. not sure where to decide. Two oils I am looking at are:
https://products.liqui-moly.us/special-tec-v-sae-0w-30-5.html
https://products.liqui-moly.us/molyg...e-5w-30-3.html
However here is the total list they provide for the vehicle:
https://www.liqui-moly.us/en/product...98c3c62386f87/
any help and opinions! greatly appreciated!

Volvo specs that the engine oil must meet the minimum ILSAC specification GF-4, API SL, or ACEA A1/B1. They also note that for "extreme" conditions such as towing to use a synthetic 0w 30 or 0W-40 and name drop Castrol . I think if you follow the factory guidelines and use the synthetic with changes at the factory interval (or sooner) you should be good for a very long time. A good web site to read up on the different standards is bobistheoilguy.com

Hey MT,
Thanks for the response!
So i read all that in the manual and other forums, I am leaning towards the liqui-moly 0w-30, but im not married to it. i did read the castrol line, and read previosuly it was probably a deal made between them, I do plan to tow with the vehicle so thats why im leaning towards the 0w-30.
The above 5w-30 is API SN and ACEA A5/B5, which are the new standards. and the ow-30 is the API SL, which is a 2010 standard, and ACEA A5/B5 (modern standard)
I appreciate the feedback and i will check out the other site and see what i can find over there!
