Have a 2017 XC90 T6 Momentum and the Volvo On Call Service Required message popped up on my dashboard. I read a bunch of forums and replaced the VCM battery but the error message did not go away. Everything on the cars work fine (including wireless, app updates, Bluetooth calling) but I can't get rid of the annoying message. I don't have or want the On Call subscription and even tried pulled the VCM fuse and reconnecting. The On Call Service message went away just a little bit but popped again driving down the road. I called Volvo and they said could be battery, the VCM module or a software issue. I am trying not take to Volvo at is will a min of $200 diag fee. Replacing the VCM module is not hard and does not seem to be too expensive - but I can find a way to troubleshoot if the VCM is bad or if I need a stupid software reset after replacing the battery. Any advice would be helpful as this appears to be a common issue with VOC.

 

I have a 2018 S90 T6 Momentum just tried something I found on YouTube,

they said disconnect both the start and stop battery and the main battery for 30 mins and reconnect. It took the reset request off of my dash for now. Don't know if it will come back?

dealer wanted to charge me the scan fee and more for the update. the car is telling you what it needs just reset it, don't need to pay the $130 to do a diagnostic to find out what it needs. I'm glad I found ways to do my electric rear brakes, the start and stop battery resets, service resets.

I could not figure out how to post a general post to all so I hope when members read your request they will see what result I got.

 

Just to let everyone that I told I tried the above to get rid of the service warning for ON CALL. It came back on today !!!!! I will try to find a better way and let you know if I'm successful.
