2021 XC90 Drivers footwell WATER CORROSION
Hey Guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me with an upcoming battle I'm about to have with Volvo Warranty and my XC90.
The car: 2021 XC90 R-Design Pro B5D - 24k miles - 2nd owner me, 1st owner Volvo UK.
Had two rear tyres replaced last month, 2 days after all warning lights on the dash lit amber, ESC / TPS / ABS, all of them. - Called Volvo dealer and booked it in for investigation and 24k major service.
Dealer said it was a "Rear wheel speed sensor" so they changed that under warranty. - I went to collect the car, sat in it, turned on ignition and all offending lights on dash still illuminated. - I hopped back on courtesy car and left it with them as I was away on holiday next day.
Dealer called me as I was on return holiday journey, talking about "water in drivers footwell", Volvo warranty assessor had looked and said flood damage corrosion so not covered. I went into see the dealer as this was not a conversation to be had lightly on a telephone call accusing me of exceeding the cars wading depth, something whilst its been in our possession the past 12 months HAS NOT happened. - The dealer water tested the car and no evidence of ingress.
The technician showed me the stripped out drivers footwell and said there was dark brown water sloshing around below the foam. Carpet was bone dry so we the owners would never know it was there unless we removed the carpets. The problem is the two connectors that are part of the cars main harness that run through the chassis, the pins have corroded sending error messages, hence the dash lights.
I felt physically sick through shock when they said the car has had water in drivers footwell only for could be 12-18months. Dealer / technician then said I would have to claim on my insurance which I'm angry about as I have not caused the damage, the car whilst we've owned it has never been driven through a flood, and why is there only water in drivers footwell, NO evidence in any other areas of the car.
Have emailed supplying dealer waiting on a response. - Has anyone else had water in drivers footwell only on newer XC90? - How can I prove that I have not driven through a flood, which only deposited water in Drivers Footwell. -
Any other advice anyone can offer me......desperate owner here, the financial element is going to hurt my family, seeing as the car was owned by Volvo UK initially would they help me find out anything about the car in its first 12 months of use?
