Default About to do timing belt- any advice?

I'm about to do the timing belt and idler pulley on my 03 T6. I've got a new water pump to put in too. I've got the VADIS instructions, I'm just wondering if you guys have any other words of wisdom to save me any time or aggravation. It sounds like I may need a T-stat nipple. I may get one before I start. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When i did mine on a 2004 t5, I didn't have a big enough torx bit for the tensioner on the serpintine belt. no problem taking it off, but to put back on you want the proper bit. It was a t55 or t60, had to make a trip to sears to purchase.

Thanks for that, luckily I had the T55.

Man this thing has been a PITA the whole time! I finally got the t-stat nipple off intact and moved all of the reservoirs and ecm box. Still wasn't enough room for TB cover.

Then after finally getting the cover off and removing the dampener on the crankshaft there wasn't enough room between the aux belt pulley and the lower motor mount to get the belt off.

Now, I got the water pump unbolted but there's not enough room to get the damn thing out. Everything is like my motor is a couple of extra inches to the pasenger side or something.

Have any of you guys had to remove the bottom crankshaft pulley to do this job? VADIS doesn't tell me to in the instructions that I have but if I remove it at least I think I can get my waqter pump out and new TB back in.

Tech, gshadow, or anybody else?

Is it a problem to remove the crankshaft pulley to give me enough room to remove the water pump?
