Default AM Freq. quit working

08 Volvo XC90 3.2 and the AM freq on radio just quit working. All other functions on radio seem to work fine. Anybody run into this problem? Thanks

Exact same problem hit me, 2008 S40 Model. CD, FM and Sirius are okay
I hear that the IAM Radio Module is the culprit, for a $800 replacement cost.
We're all watching this thread with especial interest.

Did you take it to a dealership for diagnosis? If so is there an aftermarket part available? Thanks for response

Don't know about XC90 radio, but in my BMW, it was the antenna in the back of the radio, the connection was loose.

I have the same problem with my 2008 S80. Dealer diagnosed the problem. Said the IAM is bad and I need a radio/dc changer replacement at a cost $600+ for the unit plus another $600 for installation. Sticker shock! Parts guy told me that this is a re-manufactured unit and you can't install a used unit because of one-time dealer/factory software programming. Sounds like even if you bought it yourself aand installed it, you'd still have to visit the dealer for the 'programming'.

I did find thus website and they are outside of Toronto, Canada:

New! Integrated Audio Module Repair & Return Service for Volvo | Xemodex Blog

Anyone know or have used these guys?

As a followup - I did use Xemodex to repair the AM section of my AM/FM/CD (6 disc) radio. It was successful BUT then the changer quit working. The audio unit had a Ford product number on it and it was made by Mistubushi. I tried to order this unit from a Ford dealer - they told they couldn't do it - BUMMER.

It's more than likely the IAM unit - kind of common
we have these available at a discount
