Angry Battery Problems and Radio Fails

I have a 2011 Volvo XC90 3.2L with approximately 85K miles

First, the last two times I've gone on vacation for a little over a week I've come back to find that it won't start. The first time I was at the airport and was able to get it jumped by someone there. This last time it was kept in my garage and I wasn't able to jump it with my Honda Accord. I bought a charger and had it charge overnight. That got me so that at least when the key was in the dash lights came on, but still would not start. I then tried and was successful jumping it with my other car. The battery is no more than 1 year old. I read the owner's manual which says you should have it connected to a charger if not started more than a week. Is this a common issue? I can't believe they make a car that can't go more than a week without being started!

Next, the other day I was driving and all of a sudden the radio just quit working. It still gets power because it is still backlit and can still change things like bass, treble, etc. but the radio, CD player, phone do not work. I also have the navigation/backup camera that pops out of the dash. That also stopped working as a result. I tried replacing the fuses but nothing has worked. I'm afraid it's going to cost me $1000 or more to replace all this electronics on a 5 year old car.

Has anyone had this problem and know what is causing this? Thanks!

Default Battery Problem

Did you ever get this issue resolved? Our 2009 XC90 is doing exactly the same thing. Radio, backup camera, even the AC stopped working correctly all at the same time...

low battery voltage can cause a myriad of electrical gremlins. step 1 is to get the battery load tested. if it is a year old it should be under warranty.

My 2013 S60 had "vampire power, vampire draw, phantom load" which was caused by the internet radio.

Dealer replace the battery and applied a software update, under warranty. Problem solved!
