I am looking at buying a XC90 between the years of 2004 -2008. I know some have transmission problems apparently with the GM tranny and Volvo mods. I have read a lot on Carfax and Edmunds. Can anyone recommend what year has had fewest problems with which motor etc. I have had Volvos all my life and know there are lemons out there but wish to have a lot of knowledge before I buy my next car which is for wife and I don't want to hear about it.

 

The 2.5T would be my pick. Avoid the T6.
