Default Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake (CWAB) (City Safety)

Looking for more info on the XC90's emergency braking system. "City Safety" aka CWAB (Collision Warning Auto Brake).

I am looking at getting an SUV with a crash avoidance system. I have reviewed the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) latest scores for front crash prevention and come up with a list. The following have earned the top score of "Superior" (there are others outside of this list but these are the ones I am interested in):

These fully avoided a frontal crash against a stationary object at 25mph with no braking initiated by the driver:

- 2016 Volvo XC90 with Collision Warning and Full Auto Brake (CWAB)
- 2016 Acura MDX with AcuraWatch
- 2016 BMW X3/X5 with Active Driving Assistant and City Collision Mitigation

Now this is where I get a little confused and am hoping for some input (based on knowledge and research rather than speculation).

I just watched a video, taken by the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), the Euro car safety assessment program, of an XC90 speeding towards a stationary dummy car at 50KPH as well as at 70KPM towards a moving dummy car and it came to a full stop and completely avoided any collision.

(or if this link get's deleted "Volvo XC90 im EuroNCAP-Crashtest" on youtube.

The U.S. IIHS confirms a full crash avoidance at both 12mph and 25mph for the XC90(as well as the 2016 MDX). And those are the only speeds the IIHS tests at.

1) So the Euro NCAP shows a video test 50KPM towards a stationary object with a full stop and complete crash avoidance.

2) The US only tested up to 25MPH, also with a full stop and complete crash avoidance.

I emailed Volvo, specifically the Tech and Product Communications Manager of Volvo USA and he says "crash avoidance is available on all Volvo cars traveling up to highway speeds and would avoid a collision if the difference in speed between the two vehicles is less than 9mph...."

So he says the speeds needs to only have a difference of less than 9mph to have full crash avoidance. Yet the Euro NCAP has a video showing a full crash avoidance at 50kpm:

Why would Volvo USA only promote a speed differential of 9mph when clearly the XC90 was able to come to a full autonomous stop at 50kpm?
