Default Dealer Offered 6K

My dealer who sold me the 2005 XC90 V8 said he would give me between $6000 and $6500 for my car. It needs $3,000 worth of work-all problems discussed on this board-any suggestions?

Tell him to double the offer for a maybe. KBB says 12,500 for fair condition.
Why? Maybe it fell off the boat and they won't fess up about it's problems.
It may qualify as a LEMON.

i thought you left already? what happened? you have a bigger lemon than you expected?

they got you by the *****.

for $6000 i'd keep the car, nah since you bitch about how you hate it and i dont want to hear how you hate a beloved volvo. take the offer and run to whatever car that has a full warranty and loaner car. so you can be happy.

Volvo for Life, may all the others RIP.

i just read thru some of your old posts, no wonder you have so many problems.

as of 3/2010 you had 114k and your serp belt broke. i would assume you problaby never did the service intervals i could be wrong. that would have changed the belt at one point. also you paid $450 for a $55 belt, $65 tensioner and 1hr of time. i'd be pissed to,

pm recieved, someone's feelings were hurt with a reality check

A: car is currently dead at a dealer (at their mercy)
B: car is a 2005 V8 with the potential counter bearing problem

LOL, what will happen when the engine takes a crap? it will really be worth ZERO/scrap

Pretty harsh post there gshadow.

To op, sorry to hear about all issues you're having. If you put $3k into repairs and KBB is $12500, I'd probably get it fixed then consider selling although it seems you've tackled most of the big issues now. Always hard to decide when to cut your losses and run. I just went through this with my BMW and decided that while it is running well, now was a good time to bail out.

Have you considered finding a good indy shop for this stuff. I think dealers sometimes like to spend out money like it was a bottomless pit.

Sir i speak reality
cut and pasted from the latest auction results from NADA
01/25/11 RIVRSIDE Lease $11,500 85,881
01/13/11 GTR PHNX Regular $11,000 87,301
01/28/11 MANHEIM Regular $12,300 91,649
01/06/11 GTR PHNX Regular $7,200 129,178
01/10/11 AYCOCK Regular $9,000 134,917

kbb is a optimistic pipe dream. OP's car has to be in the 120-130k range now. Dump the car on the dealer for $6k, look at that $7200 with 130k and thats for a RUNNING car that drove to the auction.

Wasn't referring to the realities of kbb. Your attitude to his request for advice seemed unusually critical of the op.

Default 2005 xc 90

Thanks-I was surprised by the hostility of this guy. I was not complaining just seeking some advice. I love the car and it has been regularly serviced by the dealer I purchased it from in 2005. I have owned 6 volvo's and currently have 4-two exceed 250K miles. He PM me but I chose not to respond as he is just one of those people looking for a fight-glad I don't really know him. Thanks again ffor sticking up for me.

You're welcome. I didn't take your post as being overly critical of Volvo, just looking for advice. No car company is perfect. There's enough animosity out in the world, don't really see the need for it among fellow owners.

i hate whiners, and shipbuilding is one. i was not being hostile, just stateing the truth.
you PM me sating i threw sand in your mangaina. boo hoo

pcarnut, yes no car is perfect. why bitch and complain about it, then say thank god i am getting out of my xcc90, with all the bye bye posts. goodbye, GTFO. i am going to love seeing the CB failure posts LOL if he chooses to keep the car. from my guess, he wont and weill get another car because he will see the reality of the true value of the car in the condition it is in and the other problems it will have.
