Default Does your seat belt chime?

I can drive our XC90 without seat belt warning, there is no chime/ no warning lights even if I drive 40-50 MPH. Local dealer says it is "normal", says they checked another XC90 and it did the same thing-no chime or light or any warning that the driver seat belt is not buckled.

Can any one verify that- I have hard time undestanding no warning given Volvo's hype about safety. the manual is unclear on that.

mine shows this on the bottom of the rear-view mirror, along with the passenger seat airbag disable. It's an '05 as well. My experience thus far is that the dealers are morons..

m1964, what was the outcome of your inquiry? I've just had a huge fight with my dealer because I can not understand that there is absolutely no warning (audible or visual), at least that's what the dealership is telling me. I don't even get the visual warning to turn on. Also, there is no door ajar warning sound for any door other than driver's. Absolutely illogical to me.

"My experience thus far is that the dealers are morons.. " -gilbertb11, that's from the post above yours- dealer said it is "normal", I asked Volvo-they e-mailed that there should be short warning upon starting the XC90.

Regarding the doors-the chime sounds only if you left the key in the ignition, otherwise I get a message: " ... door is open".
