Default ECU (?) Problem

'06 XC90 w/2.5 no turbo
Previous owner had undersized battery so I finally went to O'Reilly's and had one of the big suckers put in. Afterwards, no turn signals, rear wiper doesn't work, cruise doesn't work, bright lights don't come on, dash readout super dim. The only thing the guy at O'Reilly's did that differs from manual is he connected OBD reader prior to battery disconnect to 'preserve the memory while battery is out'. Took car to mechanic, read several codes (I didn't get the list) he said were all unrelated. Checked fuses, voltage, etc. No idea what the problem is.

Anyone encounter this kind of problem before? Any idea what the fix will be?

Thanks in advance.

I'd try disconnecting the battery, check the terminals and cables (look for bubbled insulation or swelling, which can indicate corrosion inside the cable itself). clean the terminals and the related hardware to ensure a clean contact surface. Give it a 30 minutes for any capacitance to drain off, then reconnect the positive terminal first then the negative. Then I'd check the battery voltage using a VOM (should be 12.6V), start the car, check voltage again - should be 14V or so....

The mechanic checked voltage; disconnected battery for 5 min. Everything he checked was OK. I have seen a couple of YouTube posts about resetting the ECU but so far nothing has worked. I'm going to keep looking on line for solutions and suggestions. Hopefully I won't have to take this to dealer; the mechanic charged $45 to check OBD.

Forgot to add when I brought it home I disconnected battery for 1 hr as he suggested, but no change

Sounds like your car may be in "transport mode" (google it for some suggestions). One guy suggested locking/unlocking the doors 3x with the fob to reset the alarm then wait a few minutes, another said do the same but leave the window open then open the door to intentionally set off the alarm. Best one was "go to the dealer, yelling and have them reset it". LOL

A mechanic is telling me the vehicle require a new battery calibration. Manual doesn't say this; anyone know about this?
