Got all the options for my V6 but dealer could not upgrade stereo. When car came in was missing the front speaker. I thought was just not working but dealer said did not come with v6. Has anyone taken off plate and installed speaker in dask? Sound in car is very weak and am hopeing if I can get a front speaker might sound alittle better.

 

I did not think that there was a 07 V6 model? I also think it isodd that you do not have the front speaker in dash just because it is a V6. Is there a perferated grill present or a cover plate plate on the dash? Youwill need a grill if you do not have one, (probrably a dealer item). Installing the speaker should be straight forward, getting the output from your stereo will be the fun part.I would think that the stereo will have to be removedto find an output. There probrably is a wiring harness involved that may have to be altered. I would talk to a local stereo shop, should not be a big job for them.

Also there are a lot of settings for the radio. I would suggest that youresearch the manual and make sure that it is not capable of moreoutput with settings if you have not already.

Just took the cover off and see that there is a hole but is a strange size for a speaker. Not sure what another model would look like with the extra speaker without the gps. Anyone have a picture with just the speaker?

I have not looked at mine that close but I thought the speaker was actually bigger. I will take a look this evening.

 

I finally tried to look at my front speaker. I cannot see anything through the grill to see what is their underneath. We do not have GPS, only a speaker, basically instead of your cover plate we have a perferated grill...... Sorry for not mush help............

 

so that cover that you took off, was it a solid piece? or was it like.. how do I explain... like full of little holes?? I have the six cd changer in my xc90 and just assumed that that grill on the dash had a speaker underneath it. how do I know if there really is something under there or not?? was that a super upgrade to get a speaker there??

 

Not sure about the upgrades. I am suprised that there XC90s without this speaker. His looked like it was a solid cover plate. Ours has what I call a "perferated plate" or a "grill", little holes across that allow sound from the speaker out. I would think you could hold your hand over yours and feel vibration or air movement for a check.

 

The cover has lots of little holes like it would have a speaker. I took to dealer on first service but he said that It did not have a speaker. Said I had to have GPS to get speaker. I still think by the looks of it should be able to put speaker in space. Under the cover you just see the mesh.

 

hmmmm, I always just assumed there was a speaker under there. I will have to check now. Not that I really care, I have bigger fish to fry with this car than finding out if I have one extra speaker or not[X(]
