Today was looking at and trying to find a good way to wire new front door speakers to my stock radio, and to my surprise I found 2 connecters hidden in the front passenger side door that will connect to my speakers. I was pumped I thought “could it really be this easy”? Anyway I hooked up a speaker I had and turned on my radio but I got no sound coming from the newly found door wires, so I took the door off and it looks like they are wired up and go through the door jam to the radio but im not sure. I have front dash speakers but they are worn and don’t sound as good and you cannot replace them because if you do you wont be able to cover them because the front dash speakers are fused to the plastic housing, so I was going to run new wire from the doors to the radio. So here is my question: My car was only equipped with the rear door and front dash speakers, but it does have extra wires that look ready to go for front door speakers so I was wondering if maybe all I need to do it pull the radio out and find those wires coming from the doors and connect them and then ill get sound? Im not sure just a thought and I wanted to ask you all for your input. It is a 91 740 4 door.

 

use a voltmeter and see if you are getting power to the wires at the door. if not, you'll have to find the other end near the radio and hope they have a hook up.
