Fuel pressure regulator
I have a 2006 xc90 and I recently bought a replacement FPR but I can’t seem to locate where the pre-existing part is and I also have no clue on how to replacement. Please help me figure this out 🙏🏻
What part # did you purchase? (and why?)
If you have a fuel pressure sensor on the end of the fuel rail (what engine do you have?) - the fuel pressure is control by the PEM (fuel pump control unit)
The fuel pump on cars with a fuel pressure sensor varies in speed to control the pressure.

So the car would randomly shut off while driving and everything was replaced and a friend of mines put it into the scanner and the code read P0089 so I just bought a regulator from Quantum Fuels. I’m not really good with car stuff but I want to learn it
The car needs to be diagnosed, not "everything replaced".
That usually takes tools, info and a brain with experience solving codes - many codes are not as simple as you would like.
Here's a guy that seems like checks off all of those parameters solving a similar problem on a Volvo. Problem ended up being the duty cycle of the fuel pump was too high, indicating a bad/underperforming fuel pump. Note his tools - more than just a cheap scan tool and he has a Alldata subscription for info.
