Default Gas Mileage..huge reduction since purchase

I have a 2005 Volvo XC90. When it was new and I filled the tank, the display would show I had 450 miles per tank. Now, it is only 7 years old and when I fill up, it only shows 300 available. Does anyone have any idea on what would create such a huge reduction in mileage? Thanks

Sure - did you change either the type of driving you do? The mileage calculator works according to your recent driving experience. If that has changed to something other than highway driving I could see why your range is as stated. My 2004 T6, upon fill up, usually says approximately 325 miles since I usually drive it in town. When I take it on a long highway trip it will quickly start saying something like 425 miles.

I had not noticed the difference. I will be driving more highway miles soon and I'll pay attention to that. Thank You. I was thinking more along the lines of a problem...you know, something I can fix to increase my mileage. Oh well, at least I know.

Yeah ethanol doesn't agree with these things. There is one particular station that apparently formulates a higher percentage of ethanol and when my wife gets gas there our T6 runs like crap until its been diluted enough with other gas.

I noticed recently that my L /100 km was showing 16.5 which gave me less than 500 km's per tank. I guess I had been driving a little harder than usual so I took my foot off the pedal a bit and have brought it back down to an average of 14.6....I find that if I drive at about 1500 rpm's....I'm much better off on the fuel consumption. With fuel running at $1.50 per L up here ( $6.00 per gallon ) every little bit helps
