Hi everyone sorry if asked before, i have an xc90 from 2004 with h7 lamps, is it possible to (plug and play) switch too Xenon lamps from a 2007 xc90? there is a set online which i want to buy just not sure if it will function in my car.

 

You will get a low beam failure warning (due to different current usage) and the high beams probably won't work. High beams use the inner bulbs with the H7 setup and use an electric motor to aim the HID beam further down the road with the other. Also the HIDs are self leveling (required when car was built.) Your car does not have the hardware/wiring for that - although you can manually adjust the headlamps to a "good enough, I'm only blinding people sometimes" position.

For software to make this work - you would probably have to change the CEM. There won't be a simple "software update" (can you purchase a VIDA subscription in your country?)
