Head console unoperable after Headliner repaired

Hi: I just had my headliner replaced on my '06 XC90.
Now, the console that operates sunroof and cabin lights does not work.
Mechanic says it needs to be "re programmed" and can only be done at dealership.
Another mechanic thinks it's not connected properly as "once programmed, always programmed".
Any ideas on what happened?
btw, after mechanic fiddled with it with his computer, windows and windshield wiper operate unexpectedly. (push front window button and rear window goes down instead).
I appreciate anybody's knowledge on this issue.

Windows are fine.
Drove car home with windshield wipers randomly coming on. Moving the windshield wiper stick did nothing.
Once home, after some tinkering, I turned off the switch for the rain sensor.
Wipers now operate normally.
The problem is now narrowed down to the head console. Connections seem good, but light buttons nor roof switch work.
Any suggestions?
