Headlight Help
Hello all...
I am looking for some technical assistance. My previous Volvo ownership is in 240’s, so I am used to simple vehicles.
I am involved with a local charity. We were gifted a well running 2009 XC90 to pass along to a family in need.
I am trying to fix up a few of the minor issues (headlamp cracked, sunroof sticks, etc.) prior to it being given to a single mother as her daily driver (replacing a 2005 CRV w/318k miles on it).
ISSUE: The Passenger headlight housing is cracked. The headlights are still functional ~ but it will not pass safety inspection.
QUESTION: Can I remove the steering active & HID assemblies, to install basic XC90 headlight assemblies?
If so, is there any major difficulties in this process?
Do you recommend any certain brand of aftermarket assembly?
I am just trying to do the right thing on this car... with in the budget for this young mother.
Cheers
Does the 'Rdesign' badge include any other featured besides the blue gauges?
The new high-end assemble is $1030.

Not sure where you are located but there are some other options besides downgrading to Halogens
1) Shop Amazon / Ebay for after market HID headlight buckets
2) shop recycle yards (in US, car-part.com is a great used parts search engine) or go used on Ebay
I've done the after market buy for a couple of my cars with good results - my only tip is to find the part on a dealer web store, then use that info to get the OEM part number to match up to
