So bought a used 2007 xc 90. second one ive had. love em. But when driving at night and HID's are on they flicker randomly. No real pattern. Just flicker off quick and on. Any thoughts? alternator is brand new. Had this issue before and after new alternator. Thanks for any input

Both of them do this at the same exact time?

 

I think so....pretty sure it's both together...

 

I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me, but if I remember correctly, the only thing both headlights have in common is the CEM. If one was flickering, I would suspect a ballast. But the odds of both ballasts going bad and flickering at the same exact time are pretty long.

So I've just returned from working outta town. remembered that my 04 xc90 had this same issue. So I replaced the bulbs with new ones and the problem is solved.
