So both my drivers and passengers side high beam low beam lights are out on my 04 2.5t XC90. I've changed both bulbs (which it calls for a h11) but it had h10 on both sides. So I brought back the h11's and got h10 and they're still not working. Checked my fuses and none are blown. Strange thing is after changing the lights my dash light went out like they're fixed but they're still not working. Suggestions on what I should do next. Seems odd that they're both not working. I'm thinking electrical. Is there a relay somewhere I could check? Suggestions? Ideas? Anyone else had this happen before?

 

I had similar issues. After changing the rt side low beam light, the high beam light on the left started to work. then I ordered a new ballast from ebay for no where near as expensive as OEM, and it worked great. If I had to guess.

You know what seem to have worked, for me? I am glad you asked...
I pulled the whole entire headlight out of the car. Looked into every nook and crannie. unplugged, and replugged in bulbs. (ok I didn't do that to all the small bulbs) and when I replaced the unit. something worked. Paradoxically. (I used that term in a earlier post, a responder who responded to my post, didn't seem to understand that term, weird) Paradoxically, I pulled out the passenger side, and only played with that one. (Just as I described eariler) I put it in, and the driver side High beam worked. (which is why i thought it was paradoxical in nature. I only played with the right side, and then after that the Left one worked. I hope that helps you. eBay has them listed for as low as 40 bucks, on up. I did suspect my High beams worked, but I did replace the left one. I just got tired of messing with it. I felt maybe that the fingers that suppose to ground the HID bulb, might not have been doing its job, so I did try to ensure the little fingers where stretched to touch the bulb. (in other words its seemed too easy to bend the fingers when removing the bulb.)

 

I've also replaced the hid on the drivers side at the same time as replacing both of the others. Is there anyway of checking my ballast to see if they're bad? Ive read in other places that might be the issue. Seems odd that both would go simultaneously though.

 

I had seen an option to swap. I think that is still a good idea. If an connection just vibrated lose ( for example), then by flipping them from left to right side will identify if one of them will work after moving. An old computer troubleshooting technique is to unplug, and replug it in. Give that a shot.
