I'm looking at a 2005 2.5T. Overall, pretty clean. My problem is, I want AWD and I can't determine whether it is AWD or not. There is no badge on the back indicating AWD but I don't know whether Volvo did that or not. Also, badges can be removed (I have removed some badges off my cars for various reasons).

I haven't been able to turn up anything on the Internet explaining how to tell.

I have the VIN but I can't find anything that says I can determine that from the VIN.

It really is beyond me how Volvo makes an XC vehicle without AWD. Wasn't that what the XC was originally designed to indicate?

take it on a dirt road and floor the gas pedal, you will feel slip or grip!

 

look under the car by the rear wheels and see if there's a differential and driveshaft.
