Hi all,
I just got a xc90 from 2011, I got it with an issue: the module for Active Bending Lights (ABL) was broken. The shop has removed it and was looking for the replasement part.
I do not need the ABL so I was wondering if I can somehow remove this feature (it is not working anyway)?
The dashboard error is super annoying every time I start the car and on top of that the button for turning off the ABL is flashing as well.
I do not even know how this part looks like or it's part number (so I can buy used one and put it myself). I know it is somewhere around the left bottom door linening cables on the left (left side driving car) front seat (the driving seat).
The Error from Vida/Dice is:
CEM - 1A67 Communication with HCM control module Signal missing
If anyone can help me with any information:
how turn it off, or what is this module name or how it looks like - I would be very thankful.
The HCM is located under the drivers seat. Pictures in VIDA are not helpful. Note that Volvo does not suggest that the HCM is bad in their diagnostic recommendations for the 1a67 code.- And if you "buy a used one and put it in" it probably will not work (if fact that is listed as a possible source of the code) Most modules need a software download to make them work - Note the SW emblem on the parts page (SW is #22, module is #20) - That requires a VIDA subscription and the proper hardware to interface with the car. Generally used modules can not be made to work on another car. (there are exceptions) This will probably not be as simple as you hope. Good luck
Thank you @hoonk , very much!
I know for a fact that the module is missing from the car because the repair shop (I called it just "the shop" in previous post) told me that they have removed it because it had burned. I am not eager to buy a used one at all - as I really do not think I need this extra. I would really love to find a way just to turn the entire thing off somehow. But since I did not find any hope to do so in my research on the matter, I was thinking of a way to fix it (with a spare part) - just to make it shut up I was told that these modules are something of a weak spot of the bending lights and maybe a lot of people had the same issue.
Now I know it will not work (not as simple as plug and play) so that is out.
Hi kamikadzzze,
Did you ever find a solution to this Active Bending Light warning? I just bought a 2013 XC70 T6 with the same problem: would be happy if I could just turn off the dashboard warning light & message . . .
Thanks, Soon
When it malfunctioned in my 2015 xc70 - I believe I turned that function off as illustrated below. Sold the car shortly after that - so can't say if that's a permanent solution.
