Default K&N

Has anyone tried a K&N in there XC90. I have the standard light boost L5, not the T6 motor. If you bought one did you notice that much of a difference accelaration, mileage, etc.???

Don't have an XC90, but I do have the K & N in my Tahoe, my S60, my daughters Camry and my sons 850. The are an inexpensive way to boost the performance and reliability of any vehicle.

Are you still under warranty? If so, I'd check to make sure the change wouldn't void some of the coverage first.

The warranty has expired.

I have the xc90 t6 and added the K&N filter, I have not noticed any change is gas mileage. It does seem to respond a little better during acceleration (but that could be psychological). I bought it because I did not want to spend money on a new filter every several months.

At the time I did ask the service department if it would void my warranty and they said no.

An airfilter would definitely not void your warranty.

A properly oiled rechargeable filter such as the K&N will not void a warranty but an improperly oiled one could.

Exactly. Do not over oil them.

My experience with K&N is more pep and same or worse milage (only slightly). It was like the extra pep cost me milage. I think they are a little over-rated...

Extra pep from anything can cost you mileage. It cost you because you were heavy on the gas.

I have an ECU upgrade. Lots of extra pep. Guess what my gas mileage is the same as it was stock and if anything it got better.

I also have an EST intake. Same deal. If you drive the same as you did before you should get the same mileage.
