Messages from car, codes, dead car
I'm getting messages from my 2007 volvo xc90. One message is anti-slip service required. One is sporadic and saying something like bulb position failure, one is charging system service required (something like that) I have 2 codes come up on my code reader p2419 and p2401 (I think) I was sitting in my car yesterday waiting for my husband and a random.message popped up saying brake system failure stop safely then my car died. (Car wasn't moving) any ideas? Im leaning towards the ECM but I'm praying someone has a different resolution. Lol. My code reader checks my battery and alternator those are fine
Bulb position failure - one or more of the rear parking light bulbs is out or erratic. "Position lights" are your parking lights. (middle position on the light switch) One in each headlamp assembly, and 2 in each taillamp assembly. (or two at each rear corner, some cars use the light in the bumper as a rear parking light) The bulb out system only cares about the rear parking lights - if the fronts are out you will not get that message.
Charging system service required - the voltage is either too high or too low when that message occurs. You may have an alternator overcharging or undercharging at times.
P2401, P2419 - Those are Evaporative emission codes. One is for the leak detection pump. An electric pump pressurizes the air in the gas tank to determine if there is an evaporative leak - (like leaving your gas cap loose or off, or a broken vent hose) With the original software the system determined if there was a leak by the amount of current used by the pump. As the pumps got older - they used more current and the system would report that code erroneously. A new pump usually fixes that. You can update the software and the ECU will use different parameters to set that code - but many leak detection pumps have been replaced because they are bad. New software is done using a VIDA subscription.
There's nothing wrong with your Engine control unit. At least it has nothing to do with the things you have listed.
Don't replace anything using the guess and check method - it gets very expensive and frustrating that way.
