Question Are my headlights working properly?

2007 XC-90, purchased used in Florida.

I just replaced a bulb for one of my headlights. In the process, I determined that no headlight switch settings (that I could find) would turn on anything in the headlight assemblies except the main beam, and that 'brights/dims' are handed by mechanically tilting those bulb units up and down.

Is there something wrong with my car, or what switch settings activate the other lighting units in the headlight assembly, or are they unused, or perhaps disabled for the American market?

Oddly, I also couldn't find any reference to any of this in the manual.

Thanks!

The parking light position on the switch should turn on just the parking lights. They may be burned out though if they aren't working.

Otherwise, the other two positions are the same in the US market.
