New Gen XC90 Reliability
Hi! First time poster! Was recommended this site from another.
Wife and I are looking at the new gen XC90 and BMW X5. I think we are up to date on features etc but I am trying to feel out gremlins and other issues. I have rented 6-7 XC90's since 2019 and 3 of them had issues.
1 was an airbag/SRS system warning
1 was right front headlight flickering/shutting off
Another was something else.
So I come to you experts for real world feedback - We'd be looking at the upper end of the XC90 with the T6 AWD. I know all brands have their issues, just trying to get a feel as to what degree. We would plan to keep the car for 80-100K miles and get an extended warranty once through factory.
Thanks in advance.

Plenty of resources publish reliability ratings - KBB, Consumer reports, JD Power are the most quoted. 2021 model spoiler alert - Volvo is ine the bottom 3rd with the XC90 rated down at the bottom of the list for most troublesome. Oher manufacturers that rated poorly were Mercedes, VW, Tesla with Lincoln in dead last. Top of the list are the usual suspects - Lexus, Mazda, Toyota.

Yeah I have been reading them. I saw JD had the Volvo rated at 74/100 and BMW at 78/100 but I just never trust these guys to much when I know how marketing and spends work. My Silverado is rated at 84/100 and I have no complaints so what does 10 points mean ...... HAHAHAHA.
