Default New Volvo owner—2013 XC90. I have some questions...

Hi! So I want to preface everything by saying I've looked through the manual. I actually enjoy reading manuals for new cars so I can understand some of the features, how things work, etc. I've called the local Volvo dealer and they aren't really willing to give me any answers over the phone without "looking at the car" and YouTube has been wishy washy with results since my model is 8 years old.

So onto the questions on my 2013 Volvo XC90.
  1. I noticed that a couple of times when unlocking the doors and getting into the car, the fan is running inside to cool the car down. I haven't figured out how to replicate this. Can somebody tell me the right ways to press the buttons on the FOB to accomplish this?
  2. If I use the auto-up on the driver window it will go up, close, and then immediately go right back down to the position it was in when I pressed auto-up. This means if it wasn't fully down, it would return to the not-fully-down location it was at when I pressed it. If I hold the button up at the very end it'll stay closed. Is this a bad motor, something that needs fixed in the door, or something else?
  3. My third row driver side seat folded down once for me and now won't fold down anymore. I've made sure to press the "butt" all the way to the back. I've lifted the cargo area and don't see anything that's fallen in and obstructed the seat from going all the way back. It seems like it's hitting the spot it needs to hit, but the seat-back doesn't fold down. Any suggestions?
  4. Are the "handles" the same size from 2013 to 2016? I want to get
    this this
    sunglasses holder.
Thank you!

Default Third row of seats

Hi I have a 2004 XC90 D5 executive and I have found that sometimes when you push the bottom of the seat back into place it does not release the back of the seat to come down. So have to push the bottom in quite hard to get the back to release. Hope this helps

1. Your afterblow function is turned on. ~45 minutes after you turn off the car the ac fan will run for ~7 minutes to blow any condensate off hopefully to eliminate or prevent the AC stinky sock smell. It won't run if the battery is weak and can be turned off with VIDA if it bothers you.

2. Reprogram the auto up stop. With the window up - hold the switch up for ~2 seconds. (maybe)

3. There's a small plastic part I've replaced on several different cars to solve that - so long ago it's no longer in my memory bank.

4. Have no experience with the sunglass holder.

Thanks @hoonk !

1. Your afterblow function is turned on.
So this isn't the same as the newer Volvos where you do something specific with the key, it rolls the windows down, then turns the A/C on to ventilate the car and blow the hot air out? While mine didn't roll down the windows, it was blowing A/C (just without the actual A/C running, just the air blowing) and I'm just making sure I understand correctly.

2. Reprogram the auto up stop.
Is there any indication that I was successful when doing this? Should the car be parked, or can it be cruising down the freeway at 80MPH?

Service told me to hold the window down until it’s all the way down, then all the way up, then down again, then use auto up and it should work. That didn’t work, but I have no idea how to know if I’ve done it right (other than the window staying up when done) because there’s no chime or anything.

3. There's a small plastic part I've replaced on several different cars
Yes I think I see it now on
.

is… interesting… He made it out of wood. I’m okay to buy the catches so it’s not all janky and stuff. Is there a “right way” to install these things on the seat? Do I have to tear the whole seat apart, or just put it on through the narrow gap that my hand can’t fit in? Does the catch get glued or something? I couldn’t understand how he’s getting it to stay where it belongs.

4. Have no experience with the sunglass holder.
It’s okay, I forgive you… 🤣

One more question since you’ve been so awesome…

I can’t get the memory function on the seat or with the FOBs to update correctly. I don’t really care about the memory buttons as much as getting the FOB to do it. The manual says when you unlock the door using the FOB it puts everything where it belongs. It also says if you get out and lock the door with the FOB it’ll save the settings. The problem is… it doesn’t.

So I know the memory system is functional. If I press the numbered buttons it’ll move to wherever the last owner programmed them to go. If I try using the M+# to save to the memory system it doesn’t overwrite what’s there.

Whenever I move the mirror and seat the mirror and seat end up moving slightly back to wherever it’s programmed for the FOB. It’s infuriating because I’ve probably spent 45-60 minutes on this already and I don’t think I’m that stupid…

It does, I'll give it a try along with what I found in this video.

I did not think the switchblade key/remote on a 13 xc90 was capable of remembering/learning what profile goes with a specific key. Other Volvos yes, the cars that use the rectangular key/remotes do.

Pages 105 and 106 on the 2013 XC90 Owner's Manual explain how to set the seat and mirror memory.

I agree, then it should work. Should retain seat and mirror setting for specific keys. My 2020 also remembers climate, radio stations, and other stuff for specific keys.
