Default OBD II P2419 Code

I have a 2007 XC90 (3.2L 6-cyl FWD) and it's throwing this P2419 code. The OBD II reader I have says "Evaporative emission (EVAP) switching valve-circuit low." I tried resetting this code, but the Check Engine light comes on after the car's been sitting for a while. Apparently, this circuit operates when the car is off. There's a pump that draws a vacuum in this circuit and I'm wondering if this pump is bad? Or maybe I just have a vacuum leak?

I found a couple of possible culprits over at RockAuto.com. There's a "vapor canister purge valve/solenoid." See here:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=4936&jsn=1220

And then there's a "vapor leak detection pump." See it here:

I don't know which, if any, I need. I also don't know where they're located. One bit of information I found says they're located above the fuel tank, another says under the hood. I haven't gotten out there yet to poke around and see if I can find either one. I suppose I should also make sure there aren't other issues, such as loose or broken wiring, leaky vacuum lines, etc.

Any perspective you might be able to provide would be greatly apprpeciated.

I'd be testing out the purge valve wiring, connector or the device itself. Not sure exactly where it is on the XC90 but on my S40 its up front on drivers side of the radiator and has a vacuum line in and a vacuum line out. The purge valve opens to allow the gas vapors to be sucked into the intake to be burned. The code is saying the ECU is not seeing the expected voltage from the device to indicate its state (ie open or closed).

Thanks for the response. I just went out there and poked around in the engine bay, even using a flashlight so I could see into the various corners and crevices. I couldn't find anything that looks like the ones I see in the pictures when I do an online search for this purge valve. Which probably means it's up by the fuel tank. I didn't crawl under the car. I don't crawl under cars anymore. I'll have my mechanic put the car on a lift instead. I hate crawling under cars.

I was hoping I could inspect it before buying a replacement, but I don't guess this is an option for me if it's located up by the fuel tank.

Frustrating. I just did an internet search, to see if I could find out the location of this purge valve. Bupkis.
