Default p2175 2006 XC90 4.4l

While waiting for control arms to arrive to fix front end problem, my wife announces a "limp home" problem. Arrrrr

P2175 Throttle Actuator Control System Low Airflow Detected

I can hear a kind of click/clunk coming from the throttle body (TB) while revving the engine. So I pull the throttle body and take it apart. The only thing I find is the stepper motor has a very slight play in the end bearing. I put it back together and temporarily mount it and plug in its electrical connector. With the KOEO, I have my wife operate the accelerator pedal. The TB butterfly opens and closes fully.

Hmmmm.

I hook up my bluetooth OBDII connector and turn on the Torque engine software on my Samsung tablet. The throttle position shows 27% when the pedal is at rest!

I'm thinking this is why the ecm thinks there is not enough air flow in the manifold when the throttle position is 27%. So it sets code p2175.

I pulled the accelerator pedal. When the pedal is pushed about 50% of it's travel, I can feel a resistance, like its hitting a stop, but then it gives and the pedal will go all the way to its stop.

Does anyone know how I can bench test this pedal assembly?

Any any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

For those that are interested: this is a follow up.

I bought a used throttle pedal assembly off of eBay. It operated exactly the same as the one in my XC90. The bad reading of 27%-29% throttle position when at idle was due to a bug in the Torque software.

I cleaned the throttle body and put everything back together. I jumped the battery ( the battery was low but that's another story) and the engine fired right up. And the p2175 code was gone. And I didn't clear it with the scanner.

I drove it around for 15 minutes and it acted like nothing ever happened. I don't have a clue why ???????

Lastly, the info screen has "engine system service required". I have to research that now.
