Plugging a Samsung Galaxy S8 into a 2019 XC90 via USB cable
My dad has a Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android 8.
He wanted to set the phone up with Android Auto in our 2019 XC90 so we downloaded the Android Auto app on his phone and connected his phone to the USB port with the white outline.
After you connect your phone to the USB port with the white outline, there is supposed to be a popup on the center screen with a message you have to accept to get Android Auto to work but nothing pops up with my dad's phone. We tried using the cable that came with his phone and my mom's S4 cable with an attachment (the cable for my mom's phone does not directly plug into my dad's phone) but nothing worked.
How do I get my dad's Galaxy S8 to be recognized by our Volvo as a USB device and, more specifically, get it to work with Android Auto?

I went into the Developer settings on my dad's phone and tried every USB connection type (Charging, MTP, PTP, RNDIS, Audio, MIDI, or whatever the phone has) and nothing worked. I tried to double check if he had some kind of security setting turned on that is preventing his phone from connecting to our car but could not find anything. I watched a YouTube video of someone connecting their Galaxy S8+, which is the same phone as my dad's but I think with a bigger screen, to their 2016 or 2017 XC90 and it worked without issues. At this point, I have tried everything I can think of and am stuck.
Have you tried connecting other phones to the car? Have you tried connecting your dad's phone to other cars? so to troubleshoot, first you have to make sure your car has no issues. Then you have to make sure your phone has no issues. I'm sure you checked the cable.
But go find other cars, If you are in central TX I can help.
All the best!.
