Power system service urgent light on after replacing alternator
First off, 2007 xc90 3.2.
About a week ago I was cruising around town when all of a sudden half the lights on the dash popped on and an over voltage warning popped up on the little screen. I was close to my sisters house, so I drove about a mile and parked it. I knew the battery was good and being an over voltage problem I assumed the voltage regulator on the alternator died.
Since theres no volvo dealership close enough and I needed the car running right away, I called napa and had one ordered. When I replaced the alternator I checked the pulley on the engine side and all was well. Put everything together and started it up. The over voltage warning went away and everything is charging fine, but the battery light wont go away and theres a charging system service urgent warning and it's annoying me. I'm assuming it's not liking the fact that I bought a non volvo manufactured alternator, but I'm wondering if theres something else that could be causing it, like a bad remanned unit or something of the sort.

I know this is a old post but can you tell me how you fix the problem (but the battery light won't go away)
Thx & Rgds
Apparently when the alternator fails on these cars it has a tendency to take the pcm with it. I sent mine off to a company called xemodex out of Canada, they fix the pcm and upgraded it so it won't fail if the alternator fails again. Cost about 400 dollars and had a 3 day turnaround from the day I shipped it to it being returned.
