Radio, SRS airbag light

Radio, SRS airbag light
I have lurked this forum for awhile, but my recent problems with my 2004 xc90 are forcing my first post.
In short, the car's SRS airbag light stays on. The dealership wants to charge 2,000 dollars to put in a new radio in, which supposedly will fix the airbag light.
My question, How can I do this for cheaper? It is simple for me to find (where would I do this?) a wrecked xc90 and buy its radio and then replace it that way? Do I have any options?
Help me I'm at my wits end!!!!

Did the light just come on out of the blue, or did you do some work on the radio that caused the light to come on? There are fiber optic connectors in the back of the radi/display unit and climate controls that, if disconnected and the ignition is turned on, cause the airbag light to come on.
I'm wondering if the fiber optic cables worked themselves loose, causing this to happen.

Agreed. However, I have a bad CD changer, but I've never had this problem. I agree with you the 99.9% that the changer goes bad, but I think it's the mechanical part of the changer that can easily go bad. I think it's unlikely the fiber/MOST interface of the CD changer actually goes bad, thereby causing this problem. But I guess nothing is impossible.

It's electronics, anything is possible. 6 disc dash changers just break, regardless of who makes them. Common fault is when they try to eject all the CD's when they power up. What was the explanation why the radio is at fault, and what is broken for a $2000 bill. The CD transport to my knowledge has absolutely nothing to do with the SRS light.

I am having a similar issue with my 2005 C70. The lights on the right side of my dash randomly go on and the radio cuts out. In the couple of months I have had the car, I have had it in the shop many times to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
There is an aftermarket radio in the car. I thought that might be causing the issue so I brought it to a audio guy. Everything checks out fine. The car is still draining power and causing the lights to randomly go on. Next, I had the alternator replaced. This also did not work. The battery and cables were replaced. My mechanic is still chasing down this issue.
The battery does not charge above 12 volts when the car is running. When I am parked and idling for more than a couple of minutes, the car completely goes dead. If I wait a few hours, it will start up without a jump. Ideas?
