Default Radio swap

So I know it's not a good idea to try and swap out the factory radio in a 2005 XC90 with a aftermarket one. The one in the car now has completely stopped working.... But could I swap the old factory out with a different factor radio and have it work or would I get a bunch of codes??? Thanks in advance!

My experience with an 04 is that it is plug and play. I replaced ICM (this is what you are referring to as the radio - the actual AM/FM radio is bolted to the roof at the back of the trunk) and amp from junk yard XC90s with no problems.
