Hi just wondering how I can remove nut from the top of rear shock absorber, the whole thing was turning but now the inside has fractured where you would use the star shaped tool to prevent the whole thing turning
cannot even fit a bolt splitter in here
Assuming you are going to replace the shock, I can think of a couple of things to do
a) Spray the nut with some PB Blaster a few days ahead - let the vibrations from driving soak it in. Then see if you can get a vise grip on the shaft to hold it while turning the top nut.
Plan b..
b) buy a long carbide bit and drill a hole on the side of the nut then hit it with a chisel etc to crack the threads free to wrench off. If your bit is big enough it will cut through the nut entirely
