recommended maintenance on 150k mi, 2006 xc90 2.5t
I would like to get another 150k mi out of the vehicle, I really like it.
I have only recently started doing my own maintenance, thanks to you tube.
What recommendations does anyone have to keep it running.
1) I have always changed oil on time. and change air filter as needed.
2) Timing belt and serpentine belt changed at 100k mi by dealership.
3)changed the spark plugs this weekend, and they look like they needed it.
4) plan to drain and change trans oil on a monthly basis for the next few months.
5) there was some oil around the spark plugs, should I be concerned about the PVC unit?
6) the throttle body needs cleaning which I am planning on doing next week end.
7) lifters are starting to make some noise.
8( burns a little oil, about 1 quart in 3000 mi.
any suggestions would be appreciated

1) definitely stay on top of the PCV system. If its showing signs of clogging (vids on youtube on how to test) have the parts replaced and make sure the tech rods out the block ports. Some people like to do a Seafoam treatment prior to the repair.
2) flush all fluids - coolant should get a distilled water only flush, then new 50/50 "green". Avoid Dexcool orange. Brakelines should be flushed as well. If you are doing the brake pads, consider cleaning the caliper seal boots (compressed air to blow out dirt which can contribute to binding the calipers).
3) inspect all hoses for softness, including vaccum lines, consider replacing hoses, the thermostat and overflow cap when doing the coolant flush.
4) transmission drain/fill or a full flush from a shop. Consult the owners manual to make sure you get the correct fluid (ie JWS3309 if required).
5) consider a high mileage oil - they often have seal softeners to help. should be available in sythetic or blend.
6) inspect the CV joint boots. any signs of tears can be replaced and preserve the axles which go for $450 a pop...
7) always use OEM oil filters. after market brands may not have the correct flow, restricting oil to the top end...
