Default remove bank2 exhaust manifold

4.4L V8

The main problem is p0430 code, bank2 cat efficiency. The oxygen sensors were not the problem. Using a stethoscope on the intermediate exhaust pipes: bank1 is nice and quiet while at idle and also while reving the engine; bank2 is very noisy at idle and while reving. The book says a clogged cat will cause p0430. And the sounds from bank2 appear to indicate clogging. BTW there are no other codes. I tried running cat cleaner in the fuel. Drove fro 250 miles. Code stayed off. Next day while drive, p0430 came back.

I'm deciding to pull bank2 exhaust manifold/cat and clean it or replace it with an aftermarket unit like this one Magnaflow Direct Fit Catalytic Converter 2005 2011 Volvo XC90 4 4L Manifold Rear | eBay

Is it possible to R&R the Bank2 exhaust manifold/cat without dropping the subframe (and everything else that is required as per Mitchel Pro Demand manual)? I have a fairly well equipped tool set from doing my own work for many years, but don't have all the special Volvo tools the Mitchel procedure requires.

Any advice or opinions would be very appreciated. Taking it to the dealer is out of the ($$$) question.
