Replacing CV boot without destroying axle
Hi all - I have a 2004 XC90 2.5 and I'd like to replace the front passenger's side inner CV boot, since the one on the car is currently torn. I've replaced the entire assembly before and it's not that difficult, however, I've never tried to disassemble the inner joint to slip the new boot on. Is it possible to separate the two halves without destroying the entire axle? Or if not, how does one replace just the boot?
The INNER CV Joint is also known as "tripod".
I don't have a DIY for XC90, but wrote one for my 1998 V70 below.
I recommend only GKN-Lobro boot and nothing else.
