Default Rotor/Brake Pad Concern?

I recently dropped by the local Volvo Dealership Parts department inquiring about replacing my front rotors and brake pads. I questioned the brake pad material available and was told that they are only available in semi-metallic. My concern is I seem to get a lot of brake dust, as the rims are constantly dirty/black. just wondering your thoughts and input, experiences if any on using another brand, or type - ceramic? Cost is not really a major factor because I typically prefer to go with OEM parts. Your input/ responses are greatly appreciated.

I hear ceramic is nice. I will be switching as soon as these OEMs are wore out.

The OEM pads with European cars always work very well but they dust like hell. That is because they sacrifice low dust for performance at Autobahn speeds (like slowing from high speed to 25 mph several times, with no fade). For most drivers in the US they are overkill and other compounds which dust less but work as well in normal use are fine. but the dealer will probably only want to install the factory pads.
