Default Seat Belt Warning Light/Alarm

When I first got my new 07 XC90, there was an alarm that would go off if you tried to drive without your seatbelt on. The light on the dash would also come on. Recently, I noticed that it no longer comes on. The car is right about the 8,000 mile mark, and the first service has been completed. I've tried driving from a stop, removing the seatbelt, then putting it in drive, and taking off, and also just removing the seatbelt while driving, and both the alarm and light still will not go on. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem, or any idea of something simple that may have caused this to happen. I have had no other issues with the car.
