Default Sirius or XM Satellite Radio Options

I was told by the Volvo dealer that the 2006 XC90 is a model that does NOT come with satellite radio ready capabilities. After doing both a web and local chain shopping excursion, it appears that all the portable radios (even ones that include FM Modulation to play thru the existing radio) still require the running of a wire and sticking an outside antenna on the vehicle. Does anyone have any information on Volvo offering a built in satellite ready unit in the near future?

I am in the process of buying an XC90 and I was told that Sirius Satellite radio is an option for a price of around $800. You can go with any aftermarket Sirius (or XM) receiver with the car adapter. You will have to run an antenna either to the roof and put it there or some people put it behind the front (rear view) mirror. Either way the cord from that antennae has to get back to the receiver, which is typically placed on the dashboard, console or somewhere within reach of the driver.

Default RE: Sirius or XM Satellite Radio Options

Hello:

I have an 2005 T5 XC90 AWD that I had XM installed when I purchased the new vehicle. There was not a problem. The small XM unit is mounted above the small storage. The wire is snaked through the vent that is directly above the control unit. It would have been nice had the premium sound system for the 2005 been XM radio ready. The antenna is very nicely concealed under the plastic roof panel towards the rear of the vehicle. No unsighlty wires.
