Slight knock in steering

The car handles well, but the passenger front strut is noisy and I'm seeing some uneven tire wear. ('09 XC90 3.2 R, 120K)
I have the parts to change the struts and sway links. Just today I noticed that when at a stop, car running and in drive, when I slightly turn the wheel side to side (~ 12 o'clock to 2 one way and same the other...not a big movement) there is a faint audible "knock" in both directions and what seems like a delayed steering response (this is at a stop). Nothing translates to driving handling, it seems ok. Feels like a wear part or some sloppiness.
Does this indicate another worn steering component besides the strut bushing, spring seat or sway links? If possible I'd like to replace it all in one fell swoop, so it it is a ball joint or something Advice would be aopreciated.
thanks!
