I have a 2004 T6, lately been noticing on acceleration from a stop or when coming to a stop, it sounds as if water is flowing on the passenger side (frame rail?) It would be real difficult to mistake the sound, but wondering if anyone else encountered this issue, and if there is a way to drain the frame rail. I'm not noticing any water or moisture in the cabin, floors or anywhere else. Thanks.

 

Well, I think I found a similar post from 2008 regarding this issue, at least its a start. Any additional information or advise is still greatly appreciated.

 

Probably clogged sunroof drains. You're gonna need to pull the carpet to dry it out.

 

Hi. I bought a 2003 XC90 T6 about a year ago - before I even left the dealer, there was the same issue as you have. Yes, you have clogged sun roof drain tubes. Due to age and debris, the tubes get clogged and you WILL get water in either or both foot wells (driver / passenger). The drain tube end is rather expensive (what isn't with a Volvo?) - about $25 (each) - and if you pull the old one out to try and clean it, you might not get it back in because it has lost its flexibility. The drain tube has an odd shape at the drain end because otherwise it become a whistle at some speeds it is said. As my repair was done by the dealer, the tubes were replaced free. I feel fairly confident that a good DIY'er could think of a good low-cost solution. Me? I'd try and find a way to get rid of the water before pulling hoses or stuff. Expect a wet mess. Yes, there are places on the Internet that you can get more info on this and there is likely to be a YouTube video out there.

 

Not only do these sunroof drain tubes get clogged, but more importantly is the drains in cowl where the water actually collects, so it may not be the sunroof tubes since water is collecting in cowl where wiper mechanism is found. If you don't clean those drains out, you will have even bigger problems as water will get into your CEM and this is common electrical computer problem, a real expensive repair, so suck that water out with vacuum to start, then check drains. If your sunroof tubes are clogged, this will deposit water on the floors of vehicle first.

I'd also look at inside/bottom of the door. see if there is water coming down through the window seal and not draining out of the bottom of the door.
